October 21, 2008 – Tactical Career planning (Suicide Awareness for Law enforcement / financial long range planning)

Date TBD - We are also planning on hosting a one day (evening) gang awareness / information sharing session for parents, educators, community members.

Ken Lucas (CCA) and Jerry Dunn (AZDOC) are just getting started on developing one day training with the target audience of corrections, probation, parole, jail intelligence.

Conference update – Jeff Cutler is working on the final stages of selecting a hotel and dates for the 2009 AZGIA conference. The conference will be held in May – June of 2009 and the host hotel will be the Fiesta Inn in Tempe.

Omni Colonnade Hotel located at 9821 Colannade Blvd. San Antonio, Texas 78230. The rate is $85 single, $95 double (plus tax currently 16.75% for non-exempt) with a room block of 200 rooms. Reservations can made by calling 1-800-843-6664. The cut-off for the room rate is Tue. Aug. 5, 2008, no exceptions. Members should be advised to make their room reservations in advance regardless if their department has approved or not. They can always cancel. The room rate is also good for the weekend before and after for those who want to come down early or stay late. The Conference will offer credit for Texas Law Enforcement (TCLEOSE Credit).

Course Information: This How To course will teach techniques for Patrol, Investigators, Custody personnel, Parole and Probation. If you deal with gang members in your assignment this course is for you!

Topics Covered: OMG, street gangs, prison gangs, intelligence development, search warrants, internet and gangs, expert testimony, source documents, and much, much more

This class will run from 0800-1700 hrs. Each student will receive a certificate of completion, reference materials and college credit.

Registration cost: The course registration cost is $125 per student

POST Information: This course is POST plan 4 reimbursable (1073-23215-08)

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required. There will be no exceptions. (We reserve the right to deny admission to anyone the Board of Directors deems necessary)

Arizona Indian Country Gangs Summit

The Tribal and Associated Law Enforcement Multi-Agency Planning Group are pleased to announce the Arizona Indian Country Gangs Summit to be held in Tucson, Arizona. 

This Summit is designed with separate agendas to provide sworn personnel with the current Indian Country gang issues, and the civilian personnel with information on how gangs affect the community. 

Who is invited and encouraged to attend this Summit?  All Tribal, Municipal, County, Federal Law Enforcement Officers, Correctional Officers, Adult/Juvenile Probation Officers and Prosecutors.  All will be requested to show Agency ID to attend. 

We would also like to invite the Tribal Council leaders which include community managers, school representatives, housing authority employees and anyone involved with the intervention of youth issues (however you must be able to show some form of an Employee ID to prove involvement with youth).
