AZGIA Conference Update –
From the Board of Directors - March 1, 2008

The East Valley Gang Task Force has held an annual Advanced Gang training conference each year in Mesa Arizona, which will be replaced by the Arizona Gang Investigators Association (AZGIA) 2008 Conference . AZGIA is committed to continuing to provide the most recent and useful gang information to our members at an affordable cost of $200.00 per attendee.
The AZGIA Board of Directors remains busy with the planning stages of our first annual AZGIA Gang Conference, which will be held in Phoenix on March 25-28, 2008. The AZGIA conference will include the following topics:

  • Recent migration of California gangs to Arizona and the latest trends involving California gang members in Arizona.
  • Arizona / California / Federal Mexican Mafia trends and relationships
  • Latin Kings
  • Relationship between Gangs and "Party Crews"
  • My Space / Internet issues
  • Pacific Islander Gangs
  • Tattoo recognition
  • Officer Safety issues
  • Evolution of Arizona Gangs and growth of an Arizona gang member “from the neighborhoods to the prisons and back”.
  • Most recent and up to date information on Arizona Gang trends
  • AZGIA is in the process of having the classes become AZPOST certified for continuing education training credit. The classes will be appropriate to all levels of experience within the following Law enforcement components - enforcement, intelligence, analytical, corrections, probation / parole and prosecution.

We will continue to provide updates as the conference gets closer.
